The original idea behind McKay was to create an alternate university system. That idea quickly morphed into a “free enterprise library” of sorts, where people could find affordable books on any topic imaginable. Today, you see that original idea reflected in the wide range of nonfiction we carry. From Architecture and Animal Care to Zoology and Zen, McKay has it all!
Nonfiction books are displayed in one of 76 categories. Each category is further organized into subcategories to help you find what you are looking for.
Homeschoolers
McKay is a homeschooler’s dream come true! Look in our Education/Home Learning section for homeschooling how-to books, texts, teacher’s editions, and activity books. We also sell all sorts of nonfiction titles geared toward young adult readers.
Age Limits
Age limits for acceptable nonfiction books vary from topic to topic.
College Textbooks
We sell college textbooks, but there are age limits on most of them. The good news is that our prices are far lower than what you’ll find at college bookstores; the bad news is that, if you want to sell your college textbooks to us, we aren’t able to offer you much money for them. We suggest you attempt to sell current college textbooks at school before bringing them to us.
We do not sell the Study Guides, Solution Manuals, or Lab Manuals that accompany textbooks.
We do not sell Custom-published textbooks (usually spiral-bound books that are custom printed for one teacher’s class).
Other School Textbooks
We do not accept textbooks if there is any writing in the “issued to” box at the front of the book.
Encyclopedia Sets
We sell complete encyclopedia sets printed within the past ten years, provided they are in good condition.
